Where's my laptop

Well I wasn't going to do a blog, that is until I learned that Microsoft is giving away free laptops to bloggers. In that case sign me up!

Now, in the interests of transparent disclosure, and just in case the marketing guys at Redmond are getting too exited, I am sorry to say, I won't be keeping Vista on it long enough to do a review. It'll have a Debian install disk in it before Vista has a chance to boot. But don't let that discourage you, I'll still gladly accept a free laptop.

There's no laptop coming. We never got one either. So post something new and exciting from the world of Linux!

On reviewing the link which tells about Micro$oft handing out laptops it becomes evident that is really just more spin for Micr$oft. Only a small number of bloggers received laptops, and one can bet they have a wide readership.

"Microsoft together with AMD gave out some timely Christmas presents (which are officially review PCs) to a bunch of bloggers this year. Brandon LeBlanc got one, Scott Beale got one, Mauricio Freitas got one, Mitch Denny got one, Zen.Heavengames got one, Barb Bowman got a media center, plus many other bloggers who has yet to receive it during the Christmas rush. They seem to have covered everyone from A-list to Z-list, a first in the industry with such a valuable gift, kudos for thinking about the little guys."

Really its pretty cheap advertising to sling a couple of laptops around, make out your a hero for doing it, and reach a wide blog readership with "were the good guys propaganda" ... the last line is especially telling ... kudos for thinking about the little guys... and it makes me wanna puke.
